📘 Modal Verbs


🔹 Modal Verb क्या है?

  • Modal verbs अंग्रेज़ी की सहायक क्रियाएँ (Helping Verbs) हैं।
  • ये मुख्य क्रिया (Main Verb) को सामर्थ्य, संभावना, अनुमति, आवश्यकता, बाध्यता, वचन, शर्त, सलाह आदि का भाव देने के लिए उपयोग होते हैं।
  • इनका कोई स्वतंत्र रूप (Infinitive/Participle) नहीं होता।
  • इनके साथ हमेशा Main Verb का Base Form (V1) आता है।

👉 जैसे –

  • I can swim.
  • You must obey rules.

1. Can – (सकना, क्षमता, अनुमति)

  1. I can swim.
  2. She can sing well.
  3. He can lift this box.
  4. We can play cricket.
  5. They can solve the problem.
  6. Can you help me?
  7. You can take my pen.
  8. Birds can fly.
  9. My father can drive a car.
  10. Can she speak English?






2. Could – (भूतकाल की क्षमता, विनम्र अनुरोध, संभावना)

  1. I could run fast when I was young.
  2. She could dance nicely.
  3. He could not answer the question.
  4. We could play outside.
  5. They could help us.
  6. Could you open the door?
  7. Could I borrow your book?
  8. He could sing well in school.
  9. Could you tell me the way?
  10. We could not attend the meeting.







3. May – (संभावना, अनुमति, आशीर्वाद)

  1. It may rain today.
  2. She may come tomorrow.
  3. He may be busy.
  4. May I sit here?
  5. You may go now.
  6. May God bless you!
  7. This news may be true.
  8. May I borrow your pen?
  9. We may win the match.
  10. They may visit us soon.








4. Might – (कम संभावना, शंका)

  1. It might rain in the evening.
  2. She might come late.
  3. He might be ill.
  4. We might lose the match.
  5. They might agree with you.
  6. She might call you.
  7. He might be sleeping.
  8. I might go to the party.
  9. This story might be false.
  10. They might travel tomorrow.








5. Must – (अनिवार्यता, ज़रूरी होना, निश्चितता)

  1. You must wear a helmet.
  2. We must obey the rules.
  3. He must finish his work.
  4. They must study well.
  5. You must not cheat.
  6. Students must come on time.
  7. She must respect her parents.
  8. We must keep our environment clean.
  9. He must be tired.
  10. You must drink pure water.






6. Shall – (भविष्य, वचन, औपचारिक प्रस्ताव)

  1. I shall return soon.
  2. We shall overcome.
  3. You shall get your answer.
  4. He shall be rewarded.
  5. They shall win the game.
  6. Shall I open the window?
  7. Shall we go for a walk?
  8. Shall I help you?
  9. He shall succeed.
  10. We shall respect our elders.






7. Should – (सलाह, कर्तव्य)

  1. You should drink milk daily.
  2. We should respect elders.
  3. They should work hard.
  4. He should not waste time.
  5. Students should study regularly.
  6. We should keep our environment clean.
  7. You should be honest.
  8. She should take her medicine.
  9. They should reach on time.
  10. Children should obey their parents.







8. Will – (भविष्य, दृढ़ निश्चय, वचन)

  1. I will help you.
  2. She will go to Delhi.
  3. They will play tomorrow.
  4. We will win the match.
  5. He will be a doctor.
  6. I will call you later.
  7. She will teach us English.
  8. We will respect our elders.
  9. They will complete the project.
  10. You will succeed in life.






9. Would – (विनम्रता, आदत, शर्त)

  1. I would like a cup of tea.
  2. She would help me.
  3. He would never lie.
  4. They would play every evening.
  5. Would you like some coffee?
  6. Would you help me?
  7. We would go to the park daily.
  8. He would not agree.
  9. She would dance at parties.
  10. They would travel in summer.







10. Ought to – (नैतिक कर्तव्य)

  1. You ought to respect your parents.
  2. We ought to help the poor.
  3. They ought to study well.
  4. She ought to take care of her health.
  5. He ought to be honest.
  6. Students ought to obey teachers.
  7. We ought to love our country.
  8. You ought to be kind.
  9. Children ought to listen to elders.
  10. People ought to protect nature.







11. Need (as Modal) – (आवश्यकता)

  1. You need not worry.
  2. He need not come today.
  3. We need not buy this.
  4. They need not wait.
  5. She need not cry.
  6. Do I need to answer this?
  7. Need we go there?
  8. He need not work late.
  9. Students need not panic.
  10. We need not repeat it.






12. Dare (as Modal) – (साहस, हिम्मत)

  1. He dare not speak a lie.
  2. She dare not oppose him.
  3. They dare not break the rules.
  4. I dare not enter the jungle.
  5. He dare not cheat in the exam.
  6. Dare he say this?
  7. Dare we ask the question?
  8. She dare not disobey her parents.
  9. They dare not fight with the teacher.
  10. He dare not climb the wall.
